Regular Season Round 5: Paisas - Caimanes 109-62

One of the most interesting games of round 5 was a derby match between two teams from Colombia. The game took place in Medellin where first rankedPaisas outleveled visiting Caimanes (0-2) 109-62 . Paisas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Caimanes ' 32. Paisas had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Puerto Rican-Nicaraguan Jared Ruiz (188-1992) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 assists for the winners and American guard Eric Crawford (193, college: Maine-Augusta) chipped in 16 points. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ghanian-Israeli guard Chris Smith (188-1987, college: Louisville) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and point guard Octavio Munoz (179-2001) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four Caimanes players scored in double figures. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Despite that victory Paisas went down to second position due to points difference. Caimanes at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost.
